This is a native alligator in North America and occurs from southeast Texas to Florida and north to the eastern parts of North and South Carolina. The American alligator is one of only two living species of alligators, the other a native of China.
This is a native animal in North and South America, occurring in a wide range from western Mexico south throughout Central America and into coastal northern South America. It occurs throughout the Caribbean and its northern limit is coastal areas of south Florida, on both east and west coasts.
